Martin Scorsese

wow wow wow

wowzers.

Often it is very rare that you get to see people you idolise, student's work.

For once, the students work does not resemble that of the masters. IT's so refreshing to see how much improvement MArtin Scorsese has made over the years. It's actually visible through his filmography how not only his cinema work and relationships with the people who collaborate with him to work on the score and script have matured. And how even his taste in what documentary he's made have matured and moved with the times. Look at the differences between Taxi driver and Wolf of Wall Street its massive how far he's come on.

Even though I'm not in love with a lot of his work, I appreciate it, and I appreciate the life his had. None of which I was aware of until I actually ended up reading Conversations with Scorsese as procrastination from writing my COP essay, he genuinely seems so down to earth and so on the ball. I bet he is a pleasure to work with.

What I like most about 'What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?' is the back story behind it. It's actually covered in quite a large chapter in the book and the way he tells the story, is so charming. So back when he started college they were doing a film course and basically the tutor said they had to get into small groups and make a short film and those first to him with a story would be directors and he was one of the only ones with a story idea who went to him first so he was directing the others and that's how he was able to afford to make a short film. Looking back he cringes at the editing and fact it's in his filmography, but i just think it's so ncie to think that there's potential for everybody.

Another reason I really like Martin Scorcese is how witty he is. For example this conversation with Jeremy Kagan, with the director of 12 Years a Slave, Stephen Mcqueen, American Hustle, David O' Russell and Captain Phillips, Paul Greengrass (and obviously Wolf of Wall Street, Scorsese). He his like a cartoon character his mannerisms and the amount of life and passion behind his eyes are just so charismatic and enthralling, as person utterly captivating, he really is the only reason to watch this link. (Also it is really interesting).
